Where SoleTax is going, and what we've done so far.
Roadmap last updated 31 August 2026.
tax calculations verified before every update ships
every rule from HMRC's latest published guidance. When it changes, so does SoleTax
plain-English guides, a glossary, calculators and the four-question MTD checker. Free for everyone, no app needed
and a UK limited company. Your records, handled properly
Live today · in beta
- Snap a receipt. Read and filed under the right HMRC category.
- Drives log themselves. Claims worked out at HMRC's rates.
- Say the job and the quote writes itself. Invoice in a tap.
- Invoices that look like your business: your logo, your colours, your accreditations.
- You always know the tax to set aside. Scotland's bands included.
- Ask SoleTax: an AI intelligence layer across everything you've recorded. Ask anything and get a plain-English answer from your own numbers.
- Bring years of old records with you. A bank statement, a spreadsheet or a CSV imports in a tap: 20,000 lines read and sorted in under a second, every line categorised across income and expenses, exactly where HMRC expects it.
- Your whole tax year, out in one tap. An MTD-ready spreadsheet: income, expenses and mileage laid out the way an accountant would, every receipt and invoice filed alongside. Or share any single document just as fast.
Building now
- Quarterly updates to HMRC, from inside the app. Built and working. Recognition is HMRC's process and we're in it: filing switches on the day it completes.
- The App Store launch. September 2026.
Next
- A live bank connection. The groundwork is already in the app: upload a bank statement today and every line is read and sorted in under a second. The direct link comes next.
- The year-end declaration. The last piece of MTD, ready well before the first one is due in January 2028.
- And a lot more that's in development, but we're not ready to show yet.
What we've shipped
The highlights, newest first. Every entry is something you can use.
August 2026
Your tax setup and business details are now on the web too. The answers behind your estimate and the details on your invoices, all editable from the browser.
Bring your records in from the web. Drop a spreadsheet or CSV anywhere in the portal and every line becomes a real record, with the same checks the app runs. Remove an import any time and everything it added goes with it.
Records are now editable in the browser. Open any receipt, job or trip and change it right there, with the same questions and checks as the app. Ask SoleTax rides along too, in its own corner of every screen.
More to do in your browser. Search and sort every record, open one to see its full detail, and drop a file onto any screen to add a receipt. You can also install SoleTax straight from the browser, so it opens like any other app.
Quotes and invoices from the web as well. Build one with a live preview, download the PDF, or email it straight to your customer. Numbering stays in step with the app.
SoleTax now works in your browser too. Sign in at app.soletax.io and everything is there: your profit, your tax picture, every record. Add expenses, income and trips from whatever screen you're sitting at.
When a journey could be a train or a drive, SoleTax now asks instead of deciding for you. One tap answers it, and your miles stay yours.
Every receipt now states its verdict up front: claimable or not, and why. Your answers stay on the record, and you can change any of them later. The numbers follow.
Train and tube journeys no longer sneak in as drives. Mileage sticks to the miles you actually drove.
Smarter questions when a meal receipt needs a second look. Answer two taps and the claim settles itself.
Lists are faster to tidy: swipe to delete, press and hold to select a batch.
July 2026
Getting started is now three screens. And if you kept records somewhere else before, SoleTax offers to bring them in the moment you land, so your numbers start right on day one.
Ask SoleTax now knows every screen of the app. Ask where anything lives and it takes you there.
Two real films on the homepage: the app doing a day's work, and Ask SoleTax answering.
Trip ended a few doors down? Drag the pin and the claim corrects itself.
Our application for HMRC recognition went in.
Bank statements and old records now import in a couple of taps. 20,000 lines, read and sorted in under a second.
Registered with the ICO, the UK's data regulator.
June 2026
Ask SoleTax now searches your records. "What did I spend at Screwfix this year?" Answered in seconds.
Tens of thousands of tax scenarios, verified to the penny.
Ask SoleTax arrived: plain-English answers from your own records, not generic tax advice.
The Mileage tab went live: drives log themselves, every claim at HMRC's rates.
Invoices take your logo, your colours and your accreditations.
Every expense category now carries HMRC's own wording.
May 2026
The first receipt snapped, read, and filed. Two taps.
The phone noticed its first trip, tracked it, and closed it by itself.
SoleTax begins. One goal: Making Tax Digital, without the admin.
The next entries land in your hands first.
SoleTax is in beta on iPhone now. Everything on this page, free while the beta runs.
